Have you tried the latest addition to the 32Gi family? Hydrate is a fantastically versatile product that works for everyone, including kids. With zero calories it’s a great option for the weight conscious as well. In this podcast, Mark Wolff tells you more about this wonder product.
32Gi have launched a fantastic new product called Hydrate. It’s a great pleasure to welcome Mark Wolff onto the podcast with myself, Mr Active, David Katz. Mark, tell us a little bit more about Hydrate?
Mark Wolff: It’s been a long time coming Dave. I mean there’s been a lot of requests for this kind of product in our market. It’s just taken a long time to develop it properly and make sure that everything was in place before we launched it.
Hydrate is simply an effervescent hydration tablet which gets dropped in a bottle and it basically provides minerals to help the body with fluid absorption. Over and above that we’ve actually fortified it with some vitamins to help with immunity. As well as it’s got Vitamin D in, which also help metabolise carbohydrates.
An ultimate hydration tab
It’s quite a nice product. The amount of sodium in the product is nice and high, like 336/7mg per service. It is completely carb-free, it’s got zero calories in the product. So you could say it’s Banting approved or for people that are weight-loss conscious etc.
It’s the kind of product that you’d rather have as opposed to sugary drinks. We only use natural flavours in the product. There’s no artificial colours at all. It’s suitable for vegans as well and it comes in two awesome flavours, very toned down, very tasty. I’ve been using it for a while and I must say, it’s a very impressive product. Even better than that is the actual price of the product is extremely reasonable.
DK: I’ve tried both the lime and the raspberry and they are fantastic and really, if you’re coming out of a dehydrated state, they really do work well. Mark, they’re not just for exercise are they? Predominantly they are an endurance product, but it is something you could use whenever you find yourself a bit dehydrated?
MW: You know, in my line of work I come across people that just don’t like drinking plain water all the time. This is truly a nice option for them. They’re able to just drop a tablet into a bottle – on the go – and drink it through the day to keep themselves hydrated. It’s a nice, healthy flavoured water, if you want to put it that way.
You could actually call it a vitamin-mineral water, so absolutely perfect for during the day. It’s perfect for rehydrating after an event or even if you go a little bit excessive on the alcohol side, it will definitely help rehydrate and as far as during exercise goes. Hydrate definitely plays a crucial role in helping fluid absorption.
One of the ways we’ve designed this tablet as well is that anybody that does use our Endure carbohydrate drink is able to pair the table to the carbohydrate drink. The same flavour to the same flavoured Endure drink in order to be able to increase the mineral or vitamin content of their drink to be able to maximise the fluid absorption in our existing carbohydrate drink. We’ve actually catered for that as well.
Endurance athletes – a perfect companion
DK: Mark, that’s very interesting. I was going to ask you about that because I know trail runners and anyone who does longer endurance events, a lot of guys are looking for a rehydrate. Because they almost want to pre-empt before they get to a problem, but at the same time you don’t want to be throwing extra calories you don’t need. Like you’ve touched on, this is a perfect pairing for someone like that.
MW: 100% Dave. On its own, absolutely perfect, you don’t want any calories or you can mix it with one of our existing carbohydrate drinks, just in order to be able to boost the hydration properties of it. Very versatile and the flavour is so nicely toned down that it’s not sweet at all and it’s extremely tasty.
DK: Mark, this product is already in the stores, you talked about it being a good price point, I know you get 20 of those tabs in there and one is enough, you could double up but it makes it possibly a little bit strong for people. But just in general, other than just pure rehydration after event, how would you recommend and when would you recommend that athletes are using it?
MW: Look, I think for gym goers, I think it’s an awesome product, just training in the morning and that, getting some mineral replenishment into the body is pretty good. From a recovery and immune system perspective and just from a performance perspective, to keep you hydrated. For people going out for long training sessions, I would just say drop a tablet in a bottle, you can start drinking it before, you can drink it during and then obviously you can use it afterwards if you feel the necessity to rehydrate. As far as the stockists go, the product has rolled out countrywide, it is available nationally.
DK: As Mark touched on, zero calories. So if you’re looking for something to just get those minerals, get the vitamins in, get rehydrated but not those extra calories, I think it’s a fantastic product. Mark Wolff, thanks for your time as always. If you want to know more about
